Looking like its 7 teams from St George....

We are organsing the teams at St George and its looking like there may be 7 teams (up from 5 last year)

We are looking at having teams in all grades and 2 teams in each of the U1800 and U1400. I am hoping to play half the games in the U1600 and a few in the U1800.

What other teams are out there? Who else will be playing for what team...

Rooty Hill to have 8 teams for 2005!

Rooty Hill will probably have 8 teams this year. We are only a small club - not like you big boys at St George!

    A starter metric

Guys, before blowing our own trumpets concider the number of teams as a proportion of total club members.

Could Wise and Brian quote these figures ?

    I'm excited by the Competition....

Wow.... 8 teams! well done Rooty Hill....

Should be some good tussles then with St George (and I expect North Sydney amongst the bigger clubs...)

(Duff: our membership stands around the 70 mark...)

I am genuinely excited about the club competition despite having to miss at least the first 4 rounds...

I also believe that there are some new teams appearing for the first time....

Bill, what constitutes a "Club"? Could AR for example, put together a team and enter the open section next year called the Metrosexual Chess Club? ha ha

    Cheers

I assume it would have to be a club which is affiliated with the NSWCA first (although I do see this explicitly mentioned in the rules book). All players would also need to be members of NSWCA as per Grade Match rules http://members.ozemail.com.au/~nswca/05GradeRules.htm

Of course a home venue would also need to be organised.

No they dont, however affiliated clubs get a discount on the team entry fees.

That also. Outdoors in Hyde Park would not be acceptable.

May need to start creating divisions soon for some of the grades (u1600:12 teams)... or to play twice in some weeks to enable everyone to play at least once...

Its the most teams for a few years. There were 40 from 17 clubs in 2001, 35 from 11 in 2002, 38 from 12 in 2003 and 40 from 13 in 2004. I dont have figures for the previous years handy.
