    FICS Thursday Night tourny

    Inaugural event just complete. Congratulations to Belthasar in taking out the event. TooheysNew was leading for much of the way after RTPonting's shock result vs the author in round 2, however RTPonting bounced back well and snatched the lead in after 4 rounds and cemented that position with a strong final round.

    It was a double round robin with TC of 3min+2sec/move. All games were FICS rated.

    Code:
    No Name              Rtg Total 1  2 3 4 5  6

    1  RTPonting        1684 8.0   *  2 = 2 1= 2
    2  TooheysNew       1584 7.0   0  * 2 1 2  2
    3  rockwimp         1593 6.0   1= 0 * 1 1= 2
    4  MeRkaVa          1624 4.0   0  1 1 * 1  1
    5  northodox        1220 3.0   =  0 = 1 *  1
    6  Kaitlin          1200 2.0   0  0 0 1 1  *
    RTPonting ->Belthasar
    TooheysNew->skip to my lou
    rockwimp->Rincewind
    MeRkaVa->arosar
    Kaitlin->Kaitlin

    northodox was a ring-in.

    Yeah, I'm very sorry about that. I even made the point of asking Dr Z to show me how to run an RR with SP cos I was gonna DOP. But I just have too much work to do tomorrow.

    This will be running again tonight. Register from 9:00 for a 9:30 start (Sydney time). I'll be coordinating from channel 230 on FICS. (freechess.org)

    So did a few other.

    New starter Comrade (aka BonScott) dropped by to hammer us all this week. Congratulations to Belthasar for winning all his other games and holding BonScott to a draw in one games.

    Code:
    No Name        Loc  Total 1 2  3 4

    1  BonScott    1969 5.5   * 1= 2 2
    2  RTPonting   1655 4.5   = *  2 2
    3  rockwimp    1593 2.0   0 0  * 2
    4  Kaitlin     992  0.0   0 0  0 *
    I was leading after round 1 but alas collected no more points.

    Hopefully we can get a few more players remembering next week. (hint hint).

    I really hope we get a good turn out tonight. Unfortunately I'm very busy with uni stuff at the moment so if it is going to continue then someone else has to care enough to run it. arosar (MeRkaVa) offered before but had to miss last week. Hope your not too busy tonight, mate.

    OK . . . I think I can shuffle a couple things around, so I'll be there. But I'm not very good with SP so it'll be slow.

    Thanks. If it is the same size turn out - and you just run a double round robin event - then you don't really need to use SP. That is the equivalent of using sledgehammer to crack walnuts.

    Merkava rolls the opposition. Seems congratulations and thanks are in order.

    Thanks too to all the participants. Sorry to cause a player to sit out each round.
