Dear All,

The new SACA committee is implementing a Promising Player scholarship, open to all South Australian players. This offers largely in kind support for travel and entry fees to chess tournaments as well as coaching and supplies.

Potential applicants must fill in the application available on and forward to the committee by March 30th. The exact conditions and benefits of the Scholarship are detailed in this document.

We have already organised (thanks to Alan Goldsmith) several tournaments that are likely to raise over $1000 for the successful applicant. Lecture, simul and sponsorship opportunities are sure to provide more funds.

Have any other states implemented such ideas, and if so do they have any experience to pass on?

Kind Regards,
