The top match of round 3 was won by Tim Hare (2106!!) over Haydn Barber (2137!!). Tristan Boyd (2176!!) won a long tough match with black against Gordon Dunlop (1838!!). Tristan will be white against Tim in round 4.
A point behind them are Jay Lakner (2059!!), Haydn, John Fedec (fast improving), and Michael Kueh.
Rob Maris (1937!!) played appalling with white to lose to a player that will be about 400 points below him (March ratings).![]()

Rob, you are lucky that Wallace Sheridan didn't qualify for the 'A' grade in the other MCC(where Rob is looking good on 3/3).
Tim Hare has now beaten Haydn 3 times in a row - something probably no one else in WA has done for 30 years!![]()
Still, I have a fared a bit better against Tim - may be something to do with the fact that I've had white in all 4 of our games. This trend will continue next week.
In the previous Metro tourney Wallace came 12th out of 12 in the 'B' grade making my loss to him at Midland all the worse. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now (except learn from the mistakes made), anyhow I've helped make a nice guy happy, albeit unintentionally.Originally Posted by Trizza
Tristan Boyd (2176!!) defeated Tim Hare (2106!!) to go a point clear after 4 rounds.
There few a few shock results: Haydn Barber (2137!!) was held to a draw by Michael Kueh (1766!) - Michael couragiously opened 1.f4 (Haydn usually employs 1.f4 as white and 1.d4 f5 as black), Rob Maris (1937!!) was (once again) held to a draw by Steven Hintz (1376!), Wallace Sheridan (1607!! but likely to be U1550!! in March) defeated Gordon Dunlop (1838!!).
Tristan will be confident with black against Wallace next, but should face either Haydn or Jay Lakner (2059!!) in the last round.
