One out, all out. Australia notches an opening partnership of 142 then gets bowled out for 202. Bilal Asif 6-36 on Test debut at the age of 33.

    Ric Finlay:

I'm sad to report that Aus' 142 is the highest first-wicket partnership to be followed by a 10-60 or worse collapse in all Tests. Previous: Ind 0-124 to 170 all out at Manchester, 1946, and NZ 0-107 to 158 all out v Aus, Auckland, 1973-74.

Those Marshes a bit useless init?

Great effort Siddle first innings 3/58 on a road, very good figures.

Khawaja great effort 85 first innings, 121# (266), given us a glimmer of a draw. Great innings regardless if it saves us.

Marshes are good places if you like ducks.

Anyway, a great save by the rest after the first innings flop.

    Good test from Finch too.

If Renshaw comes back for the second test then the Marshes will probably drop to 4 & 6 which looks a bit better.

Khawaja into the top ten in the latest player rankings.

Hopefully Finch can keep up the good work too.

With "top 10" players - Smith, Warner, Cummins, Hazelwood potentially back in due course hopefully we can give the Ashes a fair shake next year.

Second test underway and this Labuschagne chap, who so far has been quite a handy bowler though it's yet to be determined if he can actually bat at this level, has secured the unusual distinction of dismissing two batsmen on 94 in the same innings.

Amazing game in Abu Dhabi. Lyon stars then Aus batting collapses.

Yes he's edging up towards the lofty heights of half of Glenn McGrath's career batting average.

Hope Khawaja is OK, he didn't open and apparently has a knee issue.

We got routed, with SE Marsh finishing dead last on batting average behind all the bowlers.

Considering that in 16 outings Australia's designated numbers 3 to 6 (though they batted slightly out of phase in the second game due to the nightwatchman and the Khawaja injury) made one half-century and 247 runs, Glenn Maxwell must be a little disgruntled at being told he should score more centuries.

Though they did take more wickets than Maxwell is likely to have got.
