My home side (Tas) has shamed the nation by allowing SE Marsh to score 178 runs against us across two innings thereby presumably sealing his Test place for at least another two years.

Test series kicks off against India in Adelaide tomorrow.

Last time India visited Smith scored a stack - can anyone replace that .....

    Looking forward to the series.

Forecast for Adelaide tomorrow is a top of 39. Expect whoever wins the toss will choose to live.

    cheers Garrett.

Jeez 39, and not a day/nighter either. Pretty harsh.

Some stats and trivia via cricinfo:

Kohli averages 98.50 at Adelaide Oval with three centuries

Australia will have just one player - Nathan Lyon - who appeared in the 2014-15 Test following the omission of Mitchell Marsh. India could have seven.

India have won just five of their 44 Tests in Australia - they won in Adelaide in 2003-04 on the back of Rahul Dravid's tour de force and Ajit Agarkar's six wickets.

Off to a good start. India won the toss, and unsurprisingly chose to bat. But they are 5/110 currently, Kohli didn't fire. Good to see all our bowlers amoungst the wickets, 2 for Hazlewood so far.

Pretty good recovery from India to get to 250, in reply we're 7 / 191.

SE Marsh useless again, just 2 runs. That's 8 single digit scores out of last 10 test innings, averaging less than 10.

17 wickets for 441 in two days is not the Adelaide it used to be.

Indeed, and it's no Gabba either.

Tim Paine is currently one of the cricketers who has the following property: everyone who has played as many or more Tests without making a century has a lower batting average than him.

Paine is playing his 16th Test. The most Tests for anyone with a higher average who hasn't made a century is 10 for Alan Fairfax (AUS 1929-31).

Also on the list in order of declining batting average, Bruce Laird (specialist batsman), Ken Mackay (allrounder), Chetan Chauhan (specialist batsman), Kiran More (keeper), Vernon Philander (bowler), Deryck Murray (keeper), John Embury (bowler), Brett Lee (bowler), Malcolm Marshall (bowler), Shane Warne (bowler). Jimmy Anderson (bowler, HS 81, average 9.90) will join the list if he plays another Test without scoring a century.

Pant has 11 dismissals for the match, already equaling the record, with 1 potentially left to get.

I'd be backing him not to!

Impressive chase by the Aussies today. They fell just short, but considering no one has chased more than 236 in over a century, their score of 291 (chasing 323) is a very good effort.

Yes they certainly got a lot closer than I thought they would.

Our top order never really fired in either innings. Pujara's century was basically the difference between the teams.
