    Internet is working but I have 44% packet loss. I am trying to attach but it keeps timing out.

    Man, you have got to get a new ISP. Thanks for posting that. I guess it will go up on the website in due course?

    p.s my new ozemail broadband connection is great. Only very brief outages at the height of the storms.

    I'm on a two year contract for cable, and still one year to go. Costs $380 to break contract.

    I think I will get an ADSL connection anyway and use it as a backup in times like this.

    If the quality of service makes it almost unusable most of the time, wouldn't you be entitled to break the contract for free if they are unable to resove your problems? You're probably even entitled to a refund if the service problems are not deemed "reasonable". Any contract lawyers out there?

    They are sending a tech on thursday morning. I asked for a temp dialup account but they said cable has no SLA so they cannot do that.

    Gawd, that's hopeless. Mine comes with free dialup all the time (from anywhere). Are you with Big$pend?

    BigPond, yeah, and it is really cheap actually. I only pay $59.95 / Month for unmetered 10Mbit, I'm supposed to be capped at 10GB, but I only ever got capped once for like 3 days. This is probably the first major problem, before this there were a couple of minor incidents but nothing this big. It is probably because of the storm.
