The NSW Chess Association has great pleasure in inviting entries to the NSW Open, the premier
weekender. There are outstanding prizes on offer, with the Minor
boasting the richest prize-pool for U1600s in Australia. We look forward to seeing you there!

Entry is limited to 150 players.

Rating divisions: U2000-1800, U1800 - 1st $300 2nd $175 – in each division

Minor (U1600 ACF): 1st $1000 2nd $600 3rd $500 4th $350 5th $300
Rating divisions: U1400-1200, U1200 - 1st $300 2nd $175 – in each division

Time control: 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move

Open entry fees if registered on 10 June: Adult: $135 Junior [U18]: $120 Pensioner: $110
Open entry fees if registered on 11 June: Adult: $175 Junior [U18]: $160 Pensioner: $150
Minor entry fees if registered by 9 June: Adult: $100 Junior [U18]: $93 Pensioner: $82
Minor entry fees if registered on 10 June: Adult: $125 Junior [U18]: $115 Pensioner: $100
Minor entry fees if registered on 11 June: Adult: $165 Junior [U18]: $155 Pensioner: $140
 You need to register and pay by 9 June to be eligible for the early entry fee.
 Entries on the day of the tournament will be included in the round 1 draw at the arbiter’s discretion. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after 11:30am.
 Full-time students under 25 can enter at the junior rate. Student ID card must be produced on the day of the
tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
 For Pensioner discount, Pensioner Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card must be produced on the day of the tournament
otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
 Exemption from entry fees: FIDE titleholders – GM, IM, WGM, WIM. Entry must be received by the early
entry cut off date of 9 June or full entry fees must be paid.
 Players are eligible for one prize only. Rating prizes are based on ACF ratings. Unrated players are not
eligible for rating-restricted prizes, including 1st-5th prizes in the Minor.
 The Open Division will be FIDE and ACF rated. The U1600 will be ACF rated. Players not normally resident
in Australia must have a FIDE ID number to enter the Open tournament. This can be obtained from their
national federation.
 Forfeit times: Any player who arrives at the chessboard more than 30 minutes after the start of the session
shall lose the game unless the arbiter decides otherwise.
 All NSW resident players must be full members of (or join) the NSWCA or the NSWJCL.
 By entering the event players acknowledge that the decision of the organiser (NSWCA) is final.

 Players may request up to two half point byes prior to the start of the round before the bye is needed. Half point
byes are not available in the last two rounds.
 All prizes not redeemed within 3 months will be treated as donations to the next Olympiad.

Oh, I mean who won the rating group prize etc, I just can’t work out in the minor group myself, as we have to travel back to QLD and missed out the prize presentation.
