    Gold Coast CC - Burleigh Autumn Classic - FIDE Rated (Fri May 6th to Fri June 17th)

    Gold Coast Chess Club cordially invites you to our second classic event of 2022 the BURLEIGH AUTUMN CLASSIC. As usual, you can expect a great turnout and some well-contested games!


    Details:
    A 7-round Swiss tournament. FIDE, ACF and QJ rated

    Eligibility:
    2022 CAQ membership is required. Must be under 2400 FIDE Rating to enter due to time control regulations.

    Players without FIDE IDs must be Australian citizens or permanent residents to enter or they will be required to request a FIDE ID be issued from their country of citizenship prior to acceptance of registration.

    Entry Fees:
    GCCC Members $35
    Non-Members $70

    Venue:
    Fradgley Hall Community Centre, 14 Ocean St, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220, Australia (Entrance on Park Ave)

    Time control:
    60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move 1

    Schedule:
    Round 1 6:45 pm Friday 6 May
    Round 2 6:45 pm Friday 13 May
    Round 3 6:45 pm Friday 20 May
    Round 4 6:45 pm Friday 27 May
    Round 5 6:45 pm Friday 3 June
    Round 6 6:45 pm Friday 10 June
    Round 7 6:45 pm Friday 17 June


    Pairing System:
    Vega using Swiss Dutch FIDE JaVaFo with FIDE BAKU accelerated pairings

    Tie Break:
    1.Buchholz Cut 1;
    2.Buchholz;
    3.Direct Encounter.

    In case of a tie, the Tournament title will be decided on tie-break but all prize money for placings will be evenly split.

    Forfeiture time:
    30 minutes from advertised start time.

    Byes:
    Half Point Byes: A maximum of two half point byes only will be permitted for rounds 1 to 5

    Provisional Pairings will be published on Wednesday. Arbiter must be informed by Wednesday, 5 pm if you require a bye for the following round.

    Prizes:
    Total Prize Pool: $800 Prizes: 1st $250, 2nd $150 3rd $100
    1st Rating Group A $100, 1st Rating Group B $100 and 1st Rating Group C $100

    In the case of a tie prize money will be shared. Players are eligible for 1 prize only and will be awarded the larger prize.

    Arbiters:
    The Burleigh Autumn Classic will be conducted as a player arbiter event.

    You may have understood otherwise but as you made the original incorrect statement that it was not permitted, it is you who needs to back it up with the relevant FIDE Rating regulation.

    However good luck in finding a FIDE Rating regulation to support your claim as no such regulation exists.

    Fair comment. So as research assistant I would welcome your interpretation of FIDE Arbiter's Manual 2022 Chapter 1 point 2 (pages 1-2) which seems to preclude all activities other than arbitering although not specifically mentioning playing.
