    2023 Oceania Zonal Melbourne January 23-28, 2023

    2023 Oceania Zonal Melbourne January 23-28, 2023

"I can now confirm that the next Oceania Zonal Championship will be hosted by Chess Victoria in Melbourne from January 23-28, 2023. The Chief organiser is IM Leonid Sandler and I am sure that more details will be out soon. Melbourne were due to host the event last year but the covid pandemic meant that we had to hold the tournament as a hybrid online event. I look forward to Chess Victoria hosting a successful event in January."

    Best wishes

Excellent! Good decision by the OCC.

Would have been very tempting, but unfortunately this coincides with the first week of the Qld school term.

Cool! Finally, a chance for Aussies to get a "soft" title!

I was wondering this actually. I'm very keen to play in the event whether it's held at MCC or BHCC. Has a venue been decided on?

Any updates on this tournament? I have a player that's interested and would like to start organising flights and accommodation ASAP.

Just wondering when can the venue be decided? Trying to combine this with the junior championship. Many thanks.
