    New Kiwi title holder - FM elect Sravan Renjith

    Kia ora!

    NZ's latest FM (elect) is Sravan Renjith who is a former NZ resident and now a junior high schoolpupil in Brisbane. Sraven achieved the provisional title a couple of years ago - in an Oceania junior event I gather - but had to lift his FIDE rating to 2100 before he could claim it. Sravan recently came 3rd in the Queensland Championship which netted him 64 rating points taking him to a 'live' rating of 2121, which slots him just below Felix Xie (who is the same age as him) in the current NZ FIDE list.

    Here is Sravan's spectacular win in the Queensland Championship against second place-getter FM Dusan Stoijic.

    That will take more efforts...2100 fide is not enough for GM so next step is to become 2200 rated IM. Step by step .

    Currently all available GM direct titles do not require minimum career FIDE standard ratings.
