GM Wesley So, officially a US citizen!

Congratulations to GM Wesley So for becoming an American citizen.
Wishing him more golden triumphs under the glorious star spangled banner.
Here's the team USA after winning gold at 2016 Baku chess Olympiad!

Well, as he has been playing for the US team already it is more of an event for him rather than for the US chess i guess .

Your thoughts are correct. However, I think that somehow it works both ways.

For So becoming a US citizen and enjoying all the chess (and otherwise) advantages provided by the American society and way of life (*)

For USA chess for matters of chess related prestige to now having three (incl. super GM Levon Aronian) players belonging in the top ten of the world. (RUS and AZE have only two) (**)
For practical reasons i.e. avoiding annual bureaucratic procedures like reviewing temporary / permanent visa applications and sponsorship renewals.

(*) I do not wish to enter discussions about advantages of being an American citizen in any way, shape or form thanks.
(**) Yes, I understand that as pointed out in my original GM So has already represented US and successfully so.
