    Doeberl Cup 2021

The Doeberl website says that the 2021 Doeberl Cup is going ahead on 1-5 Apr 2021, but I failed to find a thread about it here on CC.

I also failed to find any info regarding limits on the number of players in each division? Or is there an overall limit?

To those non-Canberrans who have participated in the Doeberl previously, what's it like traveling to Canberra during Easter? Or do most of the Easter holiday travellers head outward from Canberra?

You can see the entry limits next to the each division title on the entries page:https://www.doeberlcup.com.au/registry/registrations/dynoutput

I can't say what it's like to travel to Canberra, but I can say that it tends to be fairly quiet during the Easter period with many travelling interstate to visit family etc.

With just over a month to go the Doeberl Cup has about 120 entries lined up. We already have six Grandmasters entered (Anton Smirnov, Temur Kuybokarov, Darryl Johansen, Daniel Fernandez, Justin Tan and Bobby Cheng), so it's shaping up to be a very exciting event!

If you're planning to play, please help out the organisers by entering as soon as possible via https://www.doeberlcup.com.au/index.html .

We hope to see you all at the Cup!

    6 Grandmasters? Wow, that's most of Australia's chess grandmasters, I think :-)

Thanks. I missed it because there seems to be no link from the "register" page to the "entries" page -- but only under the registrations tab near the top.

Anyway,... so now I'm wondering... should I enter the Premier division (and get mashed into marmalade), or stick with the Major division with a better chance of a not-all-zeroes score, though my current ancient ACF rating of 1810x would probably still drop.

I see a few ACF 1800-2000 players who have entered the Major, while others gone Premier. If any ACF 1800-2000 players are reading this, I'd be interested to hear thoughts about what motivated your choice (whether in reality or in principle). (?)

And speaking of being mashed into marmalade,... is there an expression for the opposite of an all-1's "picket fence" score? I didn't find anything on Google. So,... what's a suitable phrase? Maybe...

    1) I got "all my ducks in a row" ?

    2) A "booby necklace" ?

    3) A "doughnut parade" ?

    4) "Creamy Peanut Butter"? (This one is inspired by the "mashed into marmalade" phrase.)
