Mentone Chess Club will be reopening on the 21st of January.

St. Augustine's Anglican Church @ 88 Como Parade West, Mentone, VIC. 3194. The club is a 7 minute walk from Mentone train station, and bus routes 811/812 and 708 have stops right outside the venue.



We meet every Thursday from 8pm on casual nights, and 7.30pm during tournaments.

We are a friendly and casual chess club, great for beginners and veterans alike. We run several tournaments throughout the year, but we have a number of casual nights as well for those whose time commitments make it difficult to commit to a formal events. Club membership fees are $100 p/a for general members, $60 p/a for students and concession card holders, or $5 per night for casual attendees (unless it's an event, in which case the tournament fee already covers your attendance).

The first two meetings for 2021 will be casual nights to acquaint new members with the club. These will be on the 21st and 28th of January.

On the 4th of February we will run an Allegro. Even if you don't intend to join the club, we strongly encourage chess players throughout South East Melbourne to attend these fun events.

On the 11th of February we will begin the Mentone Open. This event will run for 7 rounds.

RE allegro, I've played a couple of times fairly recently and on both occasions, truly enjoyed the Club's friendly atmosphere! May play again, if time permits!

Mentone is a bit far to travel to and from weekly but once in a while for an allegro/blitz/skittles is a no-brainer.
