    MCC Allegro 2021 (OTB)

    Melbourne Chess Club Saturday Allegro

Where: The Melbourne Chess Club: 66 Leicester Street, Fitzroy

When: Every Saturday 2pm (finishes about 6pm), except the Saturday of Melbourne Cup (or as announced*).

Format: 7 round Swiss, 13 minutes plus 2 second increment per move (you play all rounds).

    Cost: $12 Adult Member, $10 Junior Member, $22 Adult non-Member, $20 Junior non-Member. (GMs/WGMs free, Club Members IMs/WIMs and FMs/WFMs Free)

Prizes: About 80% of the collected entry fee goes back into the prizes. Typically there is an open division and at least two rating group divisions (depending on numbers).
Late Fee: There is a $5 fee for registering for the Allegro late (after 2 pm) using cash. There is no penalty for registering for the Allegro late if entering online.

Entry: Via Tornelo webpage, before 2pm Saturday start. Please check this thread and the MCC webpage (see below at "further information") for the link to the relevant Tornelo webpage as this link will change for every Allegro.

Entries may also be accepted at the Club prior to the 2pm Saturday start - However, we highly recommend prior registration in Tornelo. This discourages the use of cash and allows the organisers to estimate attendance for each Allegro.
We do not recommend arriving at the club without first registering in Tornelo as you may miss out on entry to the Allegro if the limit on field size is reached.

Ratings: Rated using Tornelo. You'll receive a rating after your first allegro.

Become a Member for big discounts on all our events.

    * Please check this thread for any announcements of other Saturdays that may not be hosting Allegro - this could happen if there is a lack of capacity due to another tournament hosted at MCC (e.g. MCC Fast Play Championship, etc)

Note on current MCC's COVID protocols

Please check the MCC Allegro webpage - http://www.melbournechessclub.org/ev...turday-allegro - for guidance regarding the MCC's COVID protocols as they relate to the Allegro.

The MCC Allegro webpage also contains a link to the Club's current COVID plan. Please check this plan regularly as it changes to reflect current Victorian restrictions.

Sign up for this week's Allegro! Limited to 62 players due to COVID Summer restrictions. If there are 50 or fewer entries then only the main playing area will be used. If there are between 50 and 62 entries then the smaller playing area will also be used.

New Policy (Late Fee): There is a $5 fee for registering for the Allegro late (after 2 pm) using cash. There is no penalty for registering for the Allegro late if entering online.

Update (31/12/2020): Due to the new restrictions, masks must be worn while inside the club premises. Please be aware that this Saturday's January 2nd Allegro may suddenly be cancelled if we are mandated to shut down due to the COVID case situation getting worse.
