In the meeting on Monday 16 December our Chess Council discussed and made decisions on the following
topics.
Club Council:
All current Club Council members will continue in their positions till our postponed 2020 AGM, which now
will be held in June 2021.
Membership and Tournament Fees for 2021:
Membership fees will remain unchanged.
Adult $35, Concession Card Holders $25 and Junior $20.00.
However, to be able to afford the required costs to rate our four 9 round 90min+30sec FIDE tournaments,
there will be a $10 fee for club members and a $30 fee for non-members, for each of those tournaments.
A decision on which Rapid, Allegro or Blitz tournaments will be FIDE/ACF rated is still to be decided, as this
may require an entry fee of $5.00 for each tournament to cover the expenses.
Please note that Club Member Registration fees and all Tournament fees will have to be paid online via our
website https://www.rootyhillchessclub.org
Change of Club Night Survey:
Our online survey was positive on a switch to Tuesday nights.
Therefore the Chess Council decided to trial Tuesday nights at Rooty Hill until the end of March, when the
Club Council will decide if the current playing room on Tuesday nights is satisfactory, before committing to
play chess on Tuesday nights for the remainder of 2021.
Return to Chess in 2021:
Chess will resume on Tuesday 12 January with the Summer Swiss, a 9 round FIDE tournament run over 10
weeks (see details in post below).
This tournament will be limited to 60 entries and entry will be open to chess club members from Sunday 27 December via our website https://www.rootyhillchessclub.org
When registering for this tournament online, please pay the 2021 Chess Club member fee and the $10 fee
required to play in Summer Swiss at the same time.
Non-members may enter online for $30.00 as from Monday 4 January.
This tournament is now open for entry to 2021 Rooty Hill Chess Club members.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 uncertainty, the same rules as in the FIDE Open will apply e.g. the
required space between tables, wearing masks & sanitise hands when entering the playing room etc.
A full Chess Calendar for 2021 will be published in January.
