I could see it being quite useful for teams events, such as inter-club or inter-school. 2 or 3 arbiters for 10 to 20 players should be achievable, and help to overcome long distances.

Events such as matches being organised with remote locations are much more manageable but aren't exactly new either - we have rules for that dating back to the 1800s when telegraph matches were common (NZ law used to require NZ Post to provide free telegrams for that purpose).
