Looks like we got lucky twice yesterday! Not only Iranian board 2 accidentally dropped a piece due to a mouse slip, but also their board 3 lost due to disconnection. I would say even 1 of these events would be enough for Australia to qualify. The tiebreak used is the Berlin system. This means that if the final outcome was 4-4, one would check the results on board 1. As Anton was victorious with 1.5/0.5 this means Australia would qualify.

Well, I would say we need a similar kind of luck tonight. The expectation (same as yesterday) is that we go down 2.5/1.5 in each match. Please bring us similar luck!

P.S. Is not it a famous Australian way to win in the Olympiads; Steven Bradbury's style.

"Berlin System" as explained in the tiebreak rules is 4 points for board 1, 3 for board 2, 2 for board 3, 1 for board 4. So yes, either Temur or Max could have lost with all other results the same and we still would have qualified, given that we lost on board 3 in the first round and won on board 1 in the second.
