    Degenchess Weekly Blitz Arena

    DegenChess Weekly Blitz Arena

As some of you may be aware, James and I stream Sunday evening for several hours, playing some outrageous openings while providing good banter with the chat. As of this week's show, we have added an Arena Tournament which we will be running every week. Feel free to stop by the stream and say hi, or just participate in the tournament. It's totally up to you. https://twitch.tv/degenchess. Please be aware, this stream contains coarse language.

    What?
Arena Style Tournament - Play as many games as you can for an hour. The highest score at the end wins.
    Entry fee:
    Free!
    When?
    9pm every Sunday night.
    Where?
Lichess. I will post the link to register in this thread at 8pm as the stream goes live.
    Who?
Featuring Degenchess and MCC regulars IM Morris, IM Dale, FM Puccini, FM Baron, Urban, Lekkas, Watson amongst others!
    Why?
Bored? Looking for some laughs and some fun on a Sunday night before you go to bed? This is the tournament for you.

This weeks results can be found here:

Berserking is where you cut your time in half. You may have noticed Ari and James played against you with only 90 seconds on their clock, that's because they activated their "berserk mode". The benefit of this is you get bonus points for winning, but obviously, you put yourself at a disadvantage since you don't have much time to play the game. That is why some players were able to score 3 points in some games.

I see... did not even know I could do it. I better try it. For a moment i thought, its bonus points for playing 1.a4 (The Morris Opening) or 1.h4 (The Dale Counterattack)

I understand it's a bit time consuming but some consideration 1.b3 (preparing 2.a4 and freeing b2 to fianchetto the Rook) must be given.

From this day (13-11-20) onwards, I will only be posting, shouting and reading none other than chess related posts.

Ah the Roy System. I myself have found this system very limiting due to the inability to play Ra3->g3/e3/d3
