Yes, that is the right decision.

Disappointing China are not sending teams, in the womens they probably would be favourites.

MVL and Firouzja not playing for France is a bit disappointing.

Armenia is nowhere near as strong as they used to be as well

Ding said in an interview after his last round victory in the candidates that he was planning to play the Olympiad and then China decided not to put in teams. The Chinese government is making it hard for anyone to leave China

Seeded 29th and having a young ambicious team - I feel that finishing inside top 20 may be realistic! Could be (hopefully!) one of Australia's best result ever.

A top 20 performance would be a brilliant result. Australia has finished twice in the top 20, 15th in 1970 and 17th in 1976.

Our best semi recent results are 28th in 1996 and 29th in 2006.

Our team has certainly got stronger since 2006 so hopefully a better performance will follow.

Seems not so long ago Australia used to be seeded 50th or so.

I can imagine what an amazing result it was back in the 1970. 1976 - many top teams were missing as the event was held in Israel and they boytcotted.

I recall though that the home team has previously been unconditionally on a fixed board for the convenience of local media. India will most likely be on a high board anyway so it won't make any real difference.
