Michael, I 'd hate to disappoint you as I was extremely disappointed myself. He was only given 10 years!
Mind you the rapes were more than two! He is a serial rapist as it's shown in the article!

Serial rapist getting 10 years only???? This is sheer disgrace! They must have considered the fact that he belongs to a disadvantage group, undergone diversity training. had difficult childhood....

If he copped another ten years it would cost us another $1,100,000 in imprisonment costs (on average). As well as police and legal costs already incurred. At the cost of imprisonment at $302 per day they would have to work 8 hours per day 365 days a year at $37 per hour value to pay for their imprisonment (or 11.5 hours at $25 per hour value). Would that be a deterrence?

Exactly, the exact opposite to China. Over there it is better to kill 999 extra than let one criminal off - here it is better to let 999 off than to unjustly convict one criminal. It has been proven by DNA testing in USA that many convicted rapists etc were innocent so Governors in many cases stopped capital punishment. Which system would you prefer to live under?

I know of one such case and the guy got off because, I think, the jury just wanted to get off after the case went 2 weeks instead of one week. The town couldn't believe it. But the jury didn't know of the other cases they were held individually.
