I looked at the game with an engine afterwards, I think 16... Bxf1 may have been a better try.

    If White plays 17. Rxf1 dxc4 18. Bxc4 Qc7 19. Rb1 Na6 20. Qb7 Rb8 Black wins the Queen for the Rook and Bishop

However, 17. Bxf1 would be equal according to the engine.

I just wanted to try get an attack in because I thought I was doing worse.

Funny you should say that you thought you were worse because I thought I was too greedy with Qb3 in the opening and was about to get punished for it...

I was planning on Bxf1 but at no stage was I confident in my position until we got that ending, where I thought I was better originally with the passed pawns but my king is too weak

And then I forgot about the clock...
'And the man in the back said "Everyone attack!", and it turned into a ballroom blitz. And the girl in the corner said "Boy I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz." Brian Connolly

Today's results: My personal shocker occurred when I forgot to play Nc6 on move 20 against Domagoi.

But your game against James was largely a repeat of last week. Chairman Mao Zedong famously stated to study your enemy.

But Kayson showed how it can be done. Have you tried d5 in response to d4 by James? The Grunfeld D90 has a much higher success rate for black than D60.

Kayson showed how to wait patiently for James to donate a free rook in a completely lost position, haha.

Actually I noticed that last night and forgot about it today, only looking at the mate position today checking out that it was not a flag fall loss.

Knowing the opening is only half the story, the other half is having the confidence and arrogance that one is only beaten because they have not studied and practiced sufficiently. That is belief in oneself.
