MCC Trial Online Allegro - Sat 11 Apr (with 3 divisions - winners get free lesson or)

The MCC Big Allegro trial went really well and was full again.

We are continuing our trial by asking players to nominate for a division when they enter and to pay a token amount ($5 for members, $10 for non-members). Please note that ultimately the club will need some revenue to provide ongoing support for this tournament, either by member fees or entry fees.

Divisions you will have to choose from are:

    Premier (1600+)
    Challengers (1000 - 1600)
    Minor (Below 1000)

The rating is just a guide in order for you to play against players closer to your rating. If you are not locally rated then you can use any rating you have. We may move you between divisions. This tournament will be rated.

Winners of each division will get free entry in the Thursday evening master class with WGM Julia Ryjanova or free entry into the next Allegro.

Further details as to how to enter the Allegro can be found here: http://www.melbournechessclub.org/ev...turday-allegro

There are now 51 paying entries (just a token $5 for members, $10 for non-members). There are four strong players, but we need more in the 1600+ division.

    Top seeds

    Ari Dale
    Jesse Jager
    Hans Gao
    Colin Savige

If you are 1600+ this is a great opportunity to play some strong players in the Victorian Chess scene.

I haven't played a rated game in twenty years, I was about 1300. I have played about one social game a month if lucky. Can I sneak in under 1000? Plus I am seventy years.

Zionism is racism as defined by the UN, Israel by every dirty means available steals land and water, kill Palestinian freedom fighters and civilians, and operates an apartheid system to drive more Palestinians off their land

Correct - the entries were divided into 3 separate groups, and players in each group only played other players in the same group.

As advertised in the opening post and on the MCC website, the three groups were the Premier, Challengers and Minor divisions.

Small suggestion: for the next week's allegro - update the ''entry form'' for titled MCC members so ''credit card details'' do not have to be provided .
