The 2020 Doeberl Cup, coming up on 9-13 April, is now only 6 weeks away. So far 83 players have registered, including 6 GMs with current top seed 2020 Australian Champion GM Timur Kuybokarov and 2019 Doeberl Cup winning GM Hrant Melkumyan from Armenia also taking part. It's already shaping up to be a good event! Current entries can be seen here https://www.doeberlcup.com.au/regist...ions/dynoutput .
As mentioned in the Doeberl newsletter previously, there are a few changes in terms of the Doeberl organisation this year, with O2C stepping back and the event being handed back to the ACT Chess Association with the new Chief Organiser as Shaun Press as new Chief Arbiter as IA Alana Chibnall.
The Doeberl Cup this year has a special accommodation rate available to players wishing to stay close at the Abode Hotel - more information can be found on the website https://doeberlcup.com.au/accommodation.html.
Players wishing to play are encouraged to enter as soon as possible via the registration page on the website. Registering early helps give an indication to the organising team about the number of players to be expected, as well as encouraging your chess playing friends to also enter.
Thanks,
