    Magnus Carlsen Banter Blitz

Not sure if these have been mentioned before, but there are a lot of youtube vids from chess24 of Magnus playing blitz and giving his thoughts while he does so. Very entertaining, and a great insight into the thought of the WC.

This article on Carlsen may have been mentioned elsewhere, but it's certainly relevant here. It covers both the Banter Blitz and this:
“DrDrunkenstein” is one of many aliases Magnus Carlsen has played under during the past two years, when he went on a killing spree across the speed chess tournaments of the internet. Since winter 2017, Carlsen has taken to livestreaming his games on a variety of platforms, which has provided a surprisingly entertaining window into the mind of an all-time great.

One from the other side of the board with Fressinet. Very funny.

Best of 16 game match with Cheparinov played a few days ago. He gives his thoughts on upcoming candidates at the end.

And Alireza saw off SL Narayanan, so will meet Carlsen in the final sometime mid next week.

Carlsen must be concerned if Firouzja is the challenger next cycle. In the previous cycles, he could allow a tie in the classical games because he had good reason to believe he would easily win the rapid or blitz playoffs.

TBH I think Carlsen was a bit off his game for this match. I think he's still the better blitz player, though in 2 or 4 years maybe Alireza will catchup.

    This comparison is interesting:

You are most likely right. The recent invitational would support this.

Wow, Alireza had a 250-point jump in 6 months when he was 11. If he becomes Magnus' successor within 5 years, it would make him the youngest World Champ in history. But he needs to keep up the good work. Wei Yi reached 2700 when younger than Alireza but peaked at 2753.

Watching Carlsen playing randoms at the moment (well, so far, over 2000 rated randoms) and he just played 3...h5 in the Rossolimo Sicilian.
