Pretty entertaining game. What’s interesting is that a6 doesn’t actually seem so unviable, maybe try it in a blitz game for fun (after checking the lines properly of course)

Maybe Komodo was inspired by Karpov v Miles, 1980, Skara 1980.

"On my chess set, all the pawns are Hamburglers" ~ Homer Simpson.
Interesting game. It transposes into a French Tarrasch where 3...a6 is a reasonably frequent sideline (played about 4% of the time) and 4.Ngf3 is then the commonest move.
It seems that if 3.c4 in the game line, ...d5 is an adequate reply that scores well (though possibly because of black being better prepared).
