Bundaberg Chess

We concluded our festival of chess with a club "rapid" tournament (25/10). A six round Swiss tournament which was won by Kevin Casey (6/6). Second was Peter Bender (5/6) and third was Ranga Mashamhanda (4.5/6). The upset prize went to Shaurya Jain for his draw with Ranga.

Bundaberg has now closed for the seasonal break. We will return on 15th Jan.
We wish all our members a happy festive season.

An emergency committee meeting was held today by phone. Given the changing status of COVID regulation and prognostication by the haruspex; we will follow current wisdom and be delaying the reopening of the club until Feb 2nd. This should coincide with the passing of the peak of the omicron spike. Double vax proof will be required.

Sorry, forgot to add - GM's with a rating >2800 will not be required to show proof of vaccination if playing the Djokovic Gambit.

We are back and have had three club meetings. Our tournaments this year are planned for 2/3 September and our Festival of Chess will be arranged around this. The Classic will be held on the 19th and 20th November now that the Oceania Seniors will not going ahesd.
