ACF Olympiad Appeal - Moscow 2021 (was 2020)

We have an early Olympiad this year, only six months away from 5th to 18th August.

Again our teams, when selected, will need help to get to Moscow. ACF is seeking your donations, big or small, to help with the costs.

The Olympiad Appeal web site provides donation facilities - go to:

Very generous offer fro. AuNix who are great supporters of Australian Chess and chess in Queensland.

AuNix is the driving force behind digital game broadcast and all IT in Queensland Chess at the moment including 16 live boards being broadcast during the Australian Juniors. It would be fantastic to see the chess community support AuNix as they continue to support the chess community and give back.

George Lester and Nigel Barrow - straight out of the gate with $500 apiece
So what's your excuse? To run like the devil's chasing you.

See you in another life, brotha.

    Great chess patriots!

Not to mention Sherry Sarfati (who is related to Capa-Fan by marriage), who was also one of the first donors along with George and Nigel, and she is not even Australian but supports our teams every Olympiad. Her supporter comment was: "All the best to the gallant Aussie team!"

    Pretty impressive, for mine

A few years back George and I fought a duel for the top-ranking individual donor from Queensland. I kept adding $20 to my total each payday, while George kept matching me. I can't remember who eventually headed the list.

On Thursday I expect my decision from Washington as to my donations.
Zionism is racism as defined by the UN, Israel by every dirty means available steals land and water, kill Palestinian freedom fighters and civilians, and operates an apartheid system to drive more Palestinians off their land

    Olympiad Appeal and Coronavirus

The fate of the 44th Chess Olympiad in Moscow hangs in the balance - at present the event is set to go ahead from 5th till 18th August, but postponement (or even cancellation) remains a possibility as the world grapples with the growing COVID-19 epidemic.

The uncertainty is affecting our fundraising - donations to the Olympiad Appeal have virtually come to a standstill, with potential donors uncertain of the appeal's prospects.

To work around the problem, there is now a provision for supporters to pledge an amount to be donated to the Appeal, to be acknowledged on the appeal website now but only payable if and when the Olympiad becomes a certainty.

In any case all donations received will be refunded in full if the event is cancelled.

    Dear all,

A suggestion would be to carry all donations over to the next Olympiad and this will help all fundraising efforts then should there be a cancellation of the event.
