For those reasons and with China's growing wealth, military might and technical knowledge they are becoming over the long haul the scourge of the planet. Forty years ago they only really cared decent living and democracy now it is money and power and dominance.
Zionism is racism as defined by the UN, Israel by every dirty means available steals land and water, kill Palestinian freedom fighters and civilians, and operates an apartheid system to drive more Palestinians off their land

Concerning the reaction and discrimination against the Chinese - this should not take place but they have practiced genocide against Tibetans and Xinjiang folk. The video didn't apologise for that.

Wet markets are not Chinese phenomena. They exist worldwide Re sanitary conditions - Chinese are among the best in Asia (particularly south-east Asia).
P.S ad the video mentions - bat eating is not common occurrence in China. And as I mentioned earlier in this thread, the most famous bat eating video (featuring a pretty Asian girl) was shot in Palau.

You're missing the point - the video should have covered these (and other) issues, instead of ignoring them.

Although why you think anyone here would be fooled by a Chinese government propaganda video is beyond me.

Wet markets in the relevant sense are not exclusively Chinese but are overwhelmingly Asian.

Some positive news: Chinese high school students who are about to undertake studies in Australia will now be able to come directly from China other than students from the Hubei Province.
Unfortunately, no decision on the Uni students yet. They are still not able to come to commence the semester.

Worth keeping an eye on spread of this thing in countries outside China as there are some early cases of other countries starting to look bad. Especially Italy which is shooting up the leaderboard and Iran which has had 8 deaths from supposedly only 43 cases (obviously greatly under-reported there).

The coronavirus crisis was made in China, but no one will say it
    February 17

The Chinese Communist Party calls it "discourse management". It's more than mere censorship and bigger than propaganda. And Beijing is pretty good at it. The party uses it to control its own people, but also to manage foreign governments.

Take the new coronavirus, for instance. It may be a made-in-China global pandemic, and China might have bungled its handling of it, but that's somehow irrelevant and China's government says it's "unhappy" with Australia. Come again? ...

But even as Beijing is struggling with the consequences of so much bungling, so much death, so much damage worldwide, its officials still manage to turn this shocking culpability into an asset in managing the discourse with the wider world.

After the Morrison government decided to protect Australia from the virus by imposing a ban on people travelling from or through China, the Chinese embassy had the gall to complain Ė wrongly Ė that the Chinese government hadn't been given advance notice. And to accuse Canberra of an overreaction.

China has imposed draconian bans on its own people, in areas home to some 50 million. Yet Beijing's mouthpiece People's Daily accused other countries that have imposed travel bans of "racism". This list would include not only Australia and the US but also Singapore and Japan and Vietnam.

This is preposterous yet somewhat successful "discourse management". How so? Because no leader, no official in Australia has had the courage to speak the plain truth to this authoritarian propaganda. No, Beijing, you made this disaster. We are merely trying to survive it.
So what's your excuse? To run like the devil's chasing you.

See you in another life, brotha.

This is demagogy rather than analysis.

Re Ban. So far, The main achievement of the ban: Universities thrown in dire straits with lack of clarity when the students will be able to come back.

And now an interesting dilemma for our ''democratic'' government. Not letting Students in for the semester that starts on March 2nd is going to be bad for our economy that is struggling already....but letting students and not letting others in, would admit clear commercial focus...what will the government do?

Re the Racism part...what has the virus got to do with the Chinese business in Australia? yet, many eateries report declines in sales - particularly to the non-Asian customers.

Re cases of racism against individuals - I believe I've already quoted some in this thread.

A local outbreak would be worse.

Australia's ban is not against a race - it is against people who have been in the infected location.
Other (Asian) countries have put an outright ban on Chinese people. We haven't.

Michael, Sinophobia is just another form of racism as it is explained in this very informative BBC Article.

Actually it is about containing the virus. This should be obvious since events are being cancelled such as the one Michael mentioned in Singapore, as well as the ones I've mentioned in other countries such as Australia, Thailand, and Vietnam, have an impact on other countries far more than China. These cancellations have costs, costs not borne by China but by the hosting countries and the attendees etc.
