Chess 960 in New Zealand

Are there any plans to have Chess960 tournaments in NZ? What could be some obstacles in running a tournament like this. I wonder how much interest is out there from members on this forum to be open to playing in one of these tournaments. I am quite a keen player of 960 but only can get it online on sites like lichess. Would love to play an OTB tournament sometime.

I think the only real obstacle/risk is player numbers. I'm not loaded with the time to organise a tournament, but if someone else wanted to in Christchurch, could provide a venue and equipment.

Is that tournament rated like standard chess?

Neither NZCF nor FIDE yet has rating for Chess960. In fact NZCF still doesn't even have rating for Blitz. Some way to go yet!
