Even his Republican mates voted against him today on deserting the Kurds to be wiped out by the Turks. The Kurds lost 11,000 maybe in that conflict getting rid of ISIS whereas the USA only lost 3 - now Trump has ratted on them leaving them like helpless isolated pawns against queens. I can't think of any previous USA leader being rebuffed by his own party on foreign policy - it has occurred a few times now and probably will accelerate now his Party have found their brass monkeys.

1) Americans stay in the Middle East they are establishing their "imperialistic" presence in the area

well said. It's a common denominator of US politics' critics that they're not really anti - Trump, anti - Obama or anti - what have you! They are simply anti - US. In this case,

Ignoring that much of the criticism is coming from Trump's own party, including many who were silent through many of his other mistakes.

What could possibly be more anti-US than abandoning it's strategic interests in the region and allowing it's long term strategic rival Russia to step in. Hard to think if Russia ever had a better ally in the whitehouse than Trump.

But even beyond the region, it does damage to the US reputation as an ally, if they are prepared to abandon the Kurds who's to say they wouldn't abandon other allies? Like us.

As someone who has closely followed Turkish affairs for a number of years, I was shocked to learn that US President Donald Trump had given the green light for a third Turkish invasion of Syria and ordered the withdrawal of US troops from observation posts at Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ayn. This decision is on a par with the UN failure to defend the “safe area” of Srebrenica in Bosnia in 1995, which led to the massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys.

I have a friend in Byron who was involved when East Timor won their independence and was part of the peace keeping force. For some reason they were not able to protect the (Christian) east Timorese and to this day he is still traumatised by what he witnessed. So this is how the Kurds are rewarded for doing the USA's dirty work that began with the (unnecessary) invasion Iraq (and probably Afghanistan). Why do the Kurds have to suffer an invasion by Turkey a few days ago, today or in the future. I have heard on cable news that the Turks are not reporting it as a ceasefire at all.

The USA rounded everyone up to invade Iraq that led to the destabilisation of the area that enabled ISIS to get a foothold so it could be seen that the USA is responsible to fix the problem. I marched against that invasion a few decades ago. If the USA did not want to bankroll they should not have invaded in the first place. They shelled out the money but not the bodies - only 3 Yanks killed according to one report but 11,000 Kurds killed in clashes. The USA were the weak link.
