    Launceston Cup and Launceston Open Lightning Tournaments

    Kerry Beeton has revived the Launceston Cup and the Launceston Lightning. Both events will be held at the YMCA, Kings Meadows. The Cup will be run as a Rapid event (25+10) and has been scheduled for November 2-3. The Lightning will begin at 6.30 p.m. on November 2. Here are the TCA links to both events:

    I'v only seen a couple of entries so far: Thomas Hartwell and myself from Devonport. The 3 Beetons and the 2 Campbells are virtual certainties - beyond that: too early to tell.

    I 'll be touring Tassie early Nov. So I might drop in and do a Peirce (cup only) too!

    I seem to remember playing Tai Packer before, i believe it was the tournament sponsored by Neville Ledger a while back.

    Yes - Tai played in that 2014 event. He played his first tournament for a while last weekend - and beat me on time in R1 of the LCC Northern Champions. Here's the final crosstable of that event:

    I can't make it either. Due to unforeseen circumstances my trip to Tassie has been postponed to the second week of Jan.
