    I do not know if chess actually makes one smarter but it can make one a lot more patient in decision making. In my team a mother waiting for her school boy son to finish a game was amazed how he took about 15 minutes on a move whereas he was normally so impulsive.

    A private school seems to be a bad choice of a school for such kind of analysis. If kids are not doing chess, they are preparing for the exams or doing something else that is good for their development. So playing chess has some opportunity costs and these costs are expected to be smaller in a government school.

    Agreed but at the same time, since chess is an intellectual activity - some public schools may not necessarily have better outcomes from promoting chess. Anyway, as researchers say: ''Implications for further Research''
