    Australian Junior Chess Championships 2020

The Chess Association of Queensland is pleased to present The Southport School Australian Junior Chess Championships 2020, running from the 18th January to the 26th January. The event website can be found at https://ajccgoldcoast.com.au/, although it is still being updated with information as time goes on.

The key information is that the tournament schedule will follow previous years with events on the following dates:

Under 8/10 Opens: Sat 18 Jan to Mon 20 Jan
Under 12/14 Opens: Wed 22 Jan to Sun 26 Jan
Under 16/18 Opens: Sat 18 Jan to Sun 26 Jan
Under 8/10 Girls: Fri 24 Jan to Sun 26 Jan
Under 12-18 Girls: Wed 22 Jan to Sun 26 Jan
    Blitz/Problem Solving: Tues 21 Jan

With the event being held at The Southport School – preparatory campus, there is plenty of accommodation nearby with Southport and Surfers Paradise the closest options. There are good transport links via buses on Ferry Road, and these buses link with the tram line that runs along the coast.

The Chess Association of Queensland looks forward to welcoming players from around Australia to this event and we are looking forward to another fantastic turnout.

Go, Elizabeth Williams. Lovely Round 1 game! Wish I could effortlessly skewer my opponent's queen like that.
