    ANU Open and Minor 2019

    27th ANU OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2019

    A Class 4 Chess Grand Prix Event

    The 2019 ANU Open is being held across the weekend of the 27th and 28th July 2019, at the ANU School of Art and Design, Childers St, Canberra. Now in its 27th year, the event offers over $3000 in prizes, including a top prize of $1000.

    Saturday 27th July

    8:30am – 9:30am Registration
    9:45am Open Ceremony
    Round 1 10.00am Round 2 1:00pm Round 3 4:00pm Round 4 7.00pm

    Sunday 28th July

    Round 5 9:30am Round 6 12:00pm Round 7 2:30pm
    5:15pm Presentations

    RATE OF PLAY: 60 minutes a side plus 10 seconds per move from the start (Fischer)

    ENTRY FEE: $80 Adult; $60 Juniors and Concessions. $10 discount for entries received by Friday 19th July. Entry is free for GMs, WGMs, IMs and WIMs. (Must register by Friday 19th July).     First prize: $1000
    Second prize: $500
    Third prize: $250 $
    1800-1999 1st $200
    Under 1800 1st $150
    Best ANU Player 1st $100
    Best Junior 1st $100

    Minor Section

    First prize: $400
    Second prize: $250
    Third prize: $150
    1200-1399 1st $100
    1000-1199 1st $100
    Under 1000 1st $100
    Unrated 1st $100
    Best Female 1st $100

    Players are eligible for only one prize. In the event of a tie for the trophy, the winner will be decided on a countback of scores. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes are guaranteed. All other prizes are dependent upon the number of entries received. Unrated players in the Minor Section are only eligible for the Unrated Prize. Unrated players in Open Section are only eligible for Place Prizes. Rating and special prizes will be awarded based on the highest Score achieved – Score expected for each eligible player.

    2019 ANU Open Online Coverage - 27th 29th July

    The 2019 ANU Open will have live coverage of the top 4 boards.

    You can find the links to the live coverage as well as pairing and results at http://tournaments.streetchess.net/anu2019/

    The first round starts at 10 am on Saturday, and there will be 4 rounds on the Saturday and 3 on the Sunday.
