    what was Whites move 14 K-d1 and 15 K-c1 all about? Isn't this a case of delaying in castling that causes the problems or was the intention to castle long side?

    Avoiding discovered check threats to the queen. Perhaps just moving the queen again (and eventually castling king-side) was better but it's a bit hard to move the queen again having just done so.

    Seems like 8.Nd2 was the novelty, not played before or since. 8.Bd3 is the main move. The computer doesn't rate the Q sac as the best choice, but has some sort of near equality attached to it. Seems white was just slowly outplayed rather than there being any specific turning point. Though the engine is critical of white's 18th and 25th moves.
