Just a brief note before these lists are uploaded to say that I've had to move the ratings page on the ACF website has been moved to auschess.org.au/rating-lists (from /ratings).

This won't affect Bill's uploading the files or most visitors at all, but if you have a bookmark to the page and it isn't working that's probably why.

Ratings lookup: sachess.org.au/ratings (Not official, but based on the latest ACF rating lists - and it has graphs!)

    Hi Bill

I know the first 2 columns of those text files are the Rating and Number of Games (and the last one obviously the name ).
Always wondering what the other 2 columns are (those numbers?).
    Are you able to explain?

    Thanks

Can I check when the June files will be uploaded to the ACF website? It appears the March rating files are there, while it states the page was updated 2nd June. My apologies if I am missing the obvious. Sabrina

One small error I've noticed in the latest Vega master file - Stephanus Kurniawan (ID 6252071) should be listed as an FM.

WA appears to be a fantastic place to have a long life and stay chess-active!
Leonhart is still active and playing decent chess at 90. Lilly and Ellis are also still competitive! I played Richard Lilly several times around 25 years ago. At the time, he was already not a youngster. So may be WA is a place for the aging chess players to be

Congrats to Rooty Hill's IM Gary Lane for being the top rated over 50 player in Australia!

Yes WA does appear to have a lot of players in these lists. Wolf (90!) had mostly been playing non-rated games at Perth club, but this year has just started his third rated tournament. In the first two he drew with the leaders in the last round!

A few of the other WA players over 65 include Peter Roza who has been the main organiser of rated tournaments at Metro club, I think for over 30 years. Gordon Dunlop is another long-term organiser and active player including correspondence chess. Steve Jones came =1st with Lilly in 1963, had a gap for many years, then came back to Perth club helping in various roles, has this year reached his highest ever rating.

The highest rated WA player in the over 50’s is Tim Hare (2142 aged 58). Tim seems to do much better in the State Championship (2010 champion) than other tournaments. In the 2017 closed he defeated Derwent Maggs in the last round, this meant he finished 3rd and made Derwent 2nd just behind Igor Butsenko. In the 2019 closed Tim has started very well on 3.5/4 (draw with Tristan Boyd), but has three highly rated opponents still to play.

I do wonder if other states do not have the dob’s recorded for some top older players.
