To my knowledge, he disappeared around 15/16. I vaguely remember his performance deteriorated towards the end. He dropped quite number of rating points and simply played worse and worse. Health issue?

What exactly do you mean by disappeared? Isn't he around us anymore?

Alive but not very well. I saw him early this year.

Johny Bolens still plays rapid chess every Wednesday night at Souths Juniors.
Not as strong as he used to be, but still knows how to swindle a few games.

Thank you so much for your positive response ...

@ Michael Baron - I saw him first time in the Eighties and I suppose that he is something between 65 and 70.

    @ Holden_54

If you meet him again then - please - say HELLO from Henrik from Denmark. I'm quite sure that he will remember me.

I mentioned to Johny that old contacts were wishing him well.
He remembers Henrik, but seemed bemused when I asked for a return message.
In typical polite Bolens manner, he just said "All the best"

My favorite Bolence memory ...his blitz match for AUD2/game with Leonid Sandler During the Aus championships around 1995. Was a colourful event to watch.
