    FIDE Arbiter's Seminar, Gold Coast 2019

    The Chess Association of Queensland is happy to be able to present another FIDE Arbiters Seminar, which will be presented by IA Peter Tsai. Discussions are also taking place for a 2nd presenter.

    Date: Tuesday 2 July and Wednesday 3 July
    Venue: The Glades Gold Club, Robina, Gold Coast
    Times: 8.00am to 6.00pm each day

    Format:
    Tuesday - Laws of chess, tournament rules, system of games + tie-breaks, regulations for the rating and the over-the-board titles
    Wednesday - Swiss system and pairing rules, regulations for the titles of arbiters, use of electronic clocks, anti cheating guidelines, examination

    Cost:
    Queensland residents - $200
    Inter-State guests - $300
    Overseas guests - $500

    The Chess Association of Queensland will also provide a scheme where CAQ members may apply for a subsidy of $100 towards their participation costs upon application.

    The FIDE Arbitersí Seminar was organized by the Chess Association of Queensland under the auspices of FIDE. The seminar took place in The Glades Golf Club, Robina in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia on July 2 and 3, 2019. The Lecturer was IA Dr Peter Tsai FIDE Lecturer (AUS) and the Assistant Lecturer was IA Kerry Stead (AUS). The language of the Seminar was English. A total of 11 participants from Australia and Iran took part in the Seminar and participated in the examination.

    The topics included:
    FIDE Laws of Chess
    Tournament Rules
    System of Games & Tie Breaks
    Regulations for the rating and the over‐the‐board titles
    Swiss Dutch system and pairing rules
    Regulations for the titles of the Arbiters
    Use of Electronic Clocks
    Anti-cheating Guidelines

    The following succeeded in the exam and they will be awarded a norm for the title of the FIDE Arbiter, after the approval of the next FIDE Presidential Board:
