    Bundaberg Open Weekender 2019

The Bundaberg Weekender will be taking place on 10th/11th August. We have the usual few wrinkles to sort out before we publish the flyer but I would ask everybody who is interested to put a note in their Google calendars or diaries if you're a dinosaur like me. So watch this space.

The flyer is now available through the CAQ website. We already have three IMs saying they will be coming Stephen Solomon, Brodie McClymont and Alex Wohl. We recommend that you stay at the Spanish Motor Inn (4152 5444) for the best rates. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

As part of our weekender, IM Alex Wohl has kindly agreed to come up to run coaching sessions for our local schools on the Friday before the tournament. I would like to publicly thank him for this. Also we will be having the top eight boards on livechess.

August will soon be upon us and the entries are coming in; Tony Weller was the first. Brody will be there too. You got to be in it to win it.

Confirmed entries for our Bundaberg Open now include International Masters Alex Wohl, Stephen Solomon, and Brodie McClymont. Nominations are being received from far afield. This promises to be a great tournament.
The event is being held in the Thabeban State School hall on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th August. State Member for Bundaberg, David Batt, will open proceedings on the Saturday at 11.15am.
The tournament is a six round Swiss. The first round will commence at 11.30am, then 2.30pm and 5pm. Sunday will commence at 8.30am, followed by 11am,and 1.30pm. This is to help with travel times. Time controls are 60 mins + 10 secs Fischer. Two 0.5 point byes can be taken in rounds 1-5.
Since this is a CAQ approved, ACF rated tournament, players are reminded to check that their CAQ membership is current. Membership can be arranged through the club.
The top eight boards each round will be broadcast live on www.livechess.aunz.net
A tournament brochure can be obtained through the CAQ website or by emailing the club.

The best places to stay are Bundaberg Spanish Motor Inn (4152 5444) who are offering good rates as sponsors. Also consider the Charm City Motel (4152 2284) who are sponsoring our second tournament on 30/11 and 01/12.
