Kramnik announces retirement from professional chess

    Tarjei J. Svensen @TarjeiJS

BREAKING: Kramnik: I already decided to finish my professional chess career a couple of months ago and now, after having played my last tournament, I would like to announce it publicly.

One could feel it from the erratic way he has been playing.

Very generous of him to donate some rating points to his peers in his last tournament.
So what's your excuse? To run like the devil's chasing you.

See you in another life, brotha.

Vlad Kramnik's retirement is a great loss to the international tournament circuit and the chess world. Many great victories in the course of his long career. Some unforgettable K-K games too (with at least 3 other K's!).

Seems Kramnik only retired from serious classical stuff; he'll be playing in World Rapid and Blitz.

Apparently, his ''return'' is also inspiration for Sutovsky (who stopped most of his chess playing activity to focus on chess administration) to play as well
