GM Ben Finegold analyses Garry Kasparov vs. Guy West (1977) on YouTube

There's a new YouTube video by GM Ben Finegold (who has a humorous, somewhat insulting style of lecturing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eHT-xU2Zts.

In this video, he analyses a game Garry Kasparov vs. Guy West (1977), among other games, on YouTube for an under 1400 class.

That is a lot of time to spend on such an short game .

Actually, Australians are not very well-known for spectacular wins and equally great losses!

The only other well-known loss that has been covered throughout chess-literature that I can think of is Karpov-Rogers, 1983 (Because Karpov included it into its 100 best wins collection that was published in mid 1980s).

Re well-known wins: Rogers-Milos and Gheorgiev-Rogers games come to mind!

You can't go past IM Leonid Veniaminovich Sandler's win vs L. Aronian!
OK age difference, inexperience were considerable factors but a win is a win is a win!
After all Aronian's rating was higher than Sandler's at the time!

What a ridiculously poor effort by Finegold ...

Guy West is a champion player and has graced with his presence, performances
and achievements the green and gold both nationally and internationally!
Using one of his unfortunate performances
from a junior tournament, against the future world champion as an example for
low rated level lectures is of poor taste and deserves no kudos at all.

What i referred to was not the ''greatness of the game'' but how much the game features in chess literature around the globe.
I can not recall Jamieson-Unziker or Sandler-Aronian game appearing in many chess books.

    No Talking!

    Early on:
Finegold: "... and they played an opening you never heard of before".
    Entire class: "Sicilian!"
    Finegold: "Correct!"

    From 14:24
Some kid: "If you were a 1977's Australian player then you were no good"
Finegold: "Correct! That's the one thing he learnt in class, but that's correct."

    From 31:09
Same kid: "And, and er, and Vishy should have stopped, farted down the road".
    Finegold: "Right!"

    Hilarious!
