Many Rooty Hill players have entered, with the strongest being IM Gary Lane. Best wishes to them all!

Thats great to hear Adamski, thanks for helping to spread the word.

It's definitely looking like a strong turnout! We're currently on over 100 entries for the SIO ans SIC combined and approx. 40 for the juniors.

I dropped all the NSWCA equipment at the venue this afternoon.
I counted 200+ seats in a very spacious well presented room with lots of space to spare. Definitely the best chess venue I've experienced.
Entry numbers look good - this is set to be a vey successful event.
Congratulations to Paul Russell and the Macquarie University Chess Club for hosting such a large event.
(I also think the silent committee behind the event have assisted to some extent with their experience and expertise - so I'm expecting great things)
It really is amazing to see a younger generation of chess players take the challenge and put this together. (it is world class)

    Watch this space.

Due to a few technical difficulties, we only had two live games for round 1, though one of them was a forfeit (a player got accidentally left in the pairings who had requested a bye).

You can see the McGowan - Kunte game here: http://view.livechesscloud.com/ae24e...8-fac96b996deb

We will (fingers crossed) have 6 games streaming with a 10 minute delay on chess24 starting from round 2 at 6pm this evening.

Looks like the top seed beat our young Rooty Hill prospect.

It doesn't redirect for me, comes up with 403 Forbidden error. It's also the first hit on google search.

    http://siochess.com works perfectly.

https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-to...pen-2019/2/1/6 is the link for the live boards, but currently there are no games for round 3 due to a technical error.

I was asked by the organiser to take down the old NSWCA hosted site sio.nswca.org.au back on 4th April.

Deputy arbiter FA Helen Milligan has been taking some fantastic photos of the event which are on the New Zealand Chess News Facebook page.

    I have posted some here: http://siochess.com/photos/ .

We are really happy with the venue - and it's complete with commentary by GM Ian Rogers for Sydney people to come and watch The only issue is the air-conditioning, but there's a fan which helped with this evening's round. (Photos by Helen Milligan)
