Great news to have the Sydney International Open and Peter Parr Challengers for U2000 ACF players back on the Chess Calendar! Great to see the New South Wales Chess Association getting right behind these two events as an important sponsor too! I will spread the word to as many Queenslanders as I can - I see Gene Nakauchi has already entered! Good luck to Paul and Shaun and all involved in putting on this significant event/s! I also hope The Doeberl Cup benefits with lots of strong entries now that players have two wonderful events to play in in such close proximity!

It appears that Paypal is currently not a payment option.

i was all ready to enter the Challenger, lock myself in to playing, and then did not have my credit card with me.

Now I'm thinking I might use my holidays to have a holiday. But then again I'm so happy SIO is back.......

I wonder if Paypal will be an option before the event starts.......

    Kind Regards

    Hi Trent,

Unfortunately we have been unable to put PayPal in as a form of payment for this event. The main reason for this is that the Macquarie Chess Society do not have a business PayPal account, as they are ineligible being a student-led organisation. Since the NSWCA are not organisers of the event, we cannot use theirs either.

If you contact Paul Russell you may be able to pay into the NSWCA's bank account, who will be able to transfer the funds.

The SIO website siochess.com is not on or hosted by the NSWCA

The NSWCA website is back up.

    Hi Blair,

We've updated the website a while back to siochess.com. The old URL from 2014 Sio.nswca.org.au automatically redirects to the new website. Let me know if this still isn't working for you.

    Hi Trent,

If you want you can pay by bank transfer as well.

    Here are the details:
    Name: The Chess Club
    BSB: 082-344
    Acct No: 98-846-0954
    Branch: NAB Macquarie Centre.

If you could please email your transfer receipt to Paul.Russell@students.mq.edu.au that would be great.

We're definitely excited to have you back playing in the SIC!

Hi all just an update. The tournament field is definitely looking very impressive with three GMs, one WGM, and eight IMs! With less than three weeks until registration closes make sure you register before the tournament is booked out. And of course don't forget to explore our website http://siochess.com/ for all details about the event. I'm looking forward to seeing many of you there!

That entry list is a good state of affairs with over 2 weeks to go until the tournament. Well done to the organisers.

For those worried about parking, parking is now free for all players and visitors to the tournament across any on campus car park. On the day I recommend using West 3 since that's the closest to the venue.

    Hi all,

Here's an updated list of entries. Currently we have 32 in the Open with an average rating of around 1950, 24 in the U2000 Challengers, and 16 in the U18 Junior Rapid. As always, if you want to keep track of our entry lists vist http://siochess.com/entries/.

Hello. I was wondering with the trains being cut off to Macquarie University, are there any buses to the area coming from the city?

Hi, unfortunately our flagship new driverless metro train line is due to open a week after the tournament >.<

However, I've included some info about public transport here http://siochess.com/venue/. There are buses that leave directly outside Wynyard Station (in the city) to the university. During peak 293 is the express bus, and off peak catch the 621 or the 651. I would recommend using the NSW trip planner or google maps to plan your transport, since the university is a major transport hub there are a lot of options available regarding public transport.
