Another great Allegro at MCC today
Top heavy field of 46 players with 2 IMs 1 WGM and 3 FMs!
Tough matchups with James losing a close one to Julia, Michael losing to Alex's exchange sacrifice and passed pawns and James bouncing back with a thrilling last round win over Jack Puccini were all a treat to watch!
Michael moved out of the top boards today due to couple of losses but never lost his smile!
David Beaumont played very well today
Daniel Holland, Colin Salvige and Eamon O'Molloy played some great games today but Chris the 'Counter attack' Kolak was not in his usual form and finished with 3.5/7
Among Juniors Oliver Li did well to finish with 5/7 in the tough field but talented Daniel Gusein over stretched a few matches that he should have drawn or won and finished with 4/7
Also the other Junior players at the bottom half are improving rapidly. It is interesting to see the friendly groups that these young boys and girls form and sneek in a video game or two between the rounds! and share a few candies and lollies too! Bosco and Richard Snow did well for the seniors and Gary and Henrik continued their guest appearances!
Overall another great allegro in the new year with great matchups today and hope the same continues in coming weeks!

It's going to be the last hurray (for this year) of Henrik "Macho" Mortensen before he returns to his beloved Bochum! haha

Let's all be there to give him the send - off he deserves.

BTW this uncontrollable, unclassified, unpredictable Dane will be interviewed soon
so we 'll all get acquainted with some not so well known facts about him and his not necessarily only chess related activities!

No problems, Elliott, I lost "The German Derby", but despite that I was again the best (scoring) foreign player.

    Today's allegro results.

I managed (but not without some luck) to score 7/7 and collect the $60 bonus.

Colin Savige continued his impress (he was first equal in the Aus Day Weekender) and scored 6 to finish 2nd equal with Alexei.

Another interesting fact about Today's Allegro: I feel like a youngster among the top place getters as out of those who finished top 5 - I am the only person who is U50!
Just like Juniors, Seniors sometimes do bite!
