9th Asian Seniors Chess Championship 2018, Tagaytay City, Philippines

This quite strong event is currently underway - 5/9 rounds completed. 3 Australians and 1 Kiwi are helping make up the field.

Yesterday the top seed and chess legend, Eugenio Torre, took an unexpected tumble with the white pieces. This makes the final result impossible to predict and now it really is on for not-so-young and old!

I wish I was there, I remember Torre as Asia's only grandmaster. He inspired chess throughout Asia. Camer is there, he used to come to my comps. and winning a prize. The great thing about the Philippines is that if you look around hard enough you will find an excellent player in every nook and cranny.
Zionism is racism as defined by the UN, Israel by every dirty means available steals land and water, kill Palestinian freedom fighters and civilians, and operates an apartheid system to drive more Palestinians off their land

Angelito Camer is a regular player at Rooty Hill nowadays. His 6th = in the 50-64 age group of the Asian Seniors champs this year was a great result. Also congratulations to Helen Milligan - her second women's title. And the evergreen great GM Eugenio Torre who won his older age group division.
