    Memoir of the early 1970s

    The rather notorious gentleman (*) in the picture won a State Chess Championship (not making it any easier for you by naming the State)
    not exactly in the early 70s but not that far apart anyway! Go on have a go! ( Gattaca stay out of this! )

    You are both correct and geez I thought this was a hard one!!!

    It was Paul Dozsa indeed.

    He won the 1977 NSW Championship

    Here's a scene of his well publicized arrest
