The next tournament to start at Box Hill, on Fridays, is the KNOCKOUT Rapid Play over three weeks.
Fresh from the success, in the well run BH Championship and the highly visible VIC OPEN, the club organisers now run a knock-out competition with two rounds per night and the losers cascade into a parallel running SWISS competition. I still have fond memory of Amiel standing with the flyer in his hand, looking at the attempted explanatory diagram on the back page. He was muttering "We have nothing like this in NSW".
Come along to the Club and play in this Rapid Play and watch the organisers melt-down as they attempt to keep track of proceedings.
Although the event is a knockout competition, you are assured of 2 games per night for three weeks.

Any news from the east?
Take care and God Bless, Macavity
As promised in post #154 above, the organisers suffered meltdown as they tried to run three rounds of a Knockout and a Parallel-running cascading SWISS on 24/6.Originally Posted by macavity
They saddle up this Friday to run evening #2 of this madcap event, and hopefully spend a bit more time organising Interclub teams.
Btw, is Dandenong or Melbourne or Elwood entering teams in our zone?

Hi Starter
Perhaps Melbourne, but not sure as there has already been one team entered in the western zone; Dandenong unsure; Elwood has entered in the western zone as far as I know and the 'other' club I am involved with seldom seems to have a lot of interest in anything extracurricular in any forum. Will make inquiries regarding Melbourne though; when is the cutoff for entries, and please advise as to where the schedule is available,
thanks in advance, take care and God bless,

And the best played game winner is...?![]()

You should have a CV flyer giving entry cut-off. (I will read at the Club tonight and let you know).
Best played game eh. Now the puzzle pieces fall into place. I see the sudden interest in eastern affairs as a personal interest.
Dunno.
But may not be rapid.

I might almost construe a suggestion of a somewhat personal agenda in the matter ( which may have some basis in truth ). Were the games to be posted for the forum to consider? (Like lillies perhaps?) In all truth, it would be interesting to see what the candidates games are like...
Thanks for the interclub dates,
Take care all the best, God Bless,

PS clever film reference Gareth!!

ps Like a/c, I am not in anticipation of particular favours from a deity. Thanks for the thought though.

The final round of the 10-player FIDE-rated round-robin finished last night at Box Hill. I hope the Club web-site shows the full results today.
(I trust there are no 'adjourned' games that have to be declared St George DRAWS)
Detail results here show Chris Wallis is the outright winner
A further similar event may be held later in the year. Register your interest with the Club Captain Gerrit Hartland.

Are you sure you are not mixing your following of the Tuesday (truly) rated FIDE with the Friday Knockout_Repecharge SWISS?
