Reminder - 2018 MCC Allegro Olympiad Fundraiser on next Saturday! (25 Aug 2018)

Just a reminder that the MCC Allegro Olympiad Fundraiser is on next Saturday 25 August 2018.

Attached is a flyer to the event, which includes noted all details above in the top post. Organisers at other Melbourne chess clubs are welcomed to print this and advertise the event to its members.

In addition to the team members who have committed to playing (namely IM Bobby Cheng, IM James Morris and WGM Julia Ryjanova), it is likely that GM-elect Justin Tan may also be playing - I spoke to him at a recent chess event at another club (after landing from his flight from the UK) and he has expressed an interest in playing.

Looks like the Allegro may be very strong, so we encourage players to come and play!

Apologies - It appears I could not upload the flyer as an attachment due to reaching the upload limit here. One can find a copy of the flyer on the MCC twitter account: https://twitter.com/MelbourneChess/s...85993084854274

Was speaking with IM Kanan Izzat at MCC yesterday and he is hopeful of playing this Saturday, subject to recovery from some ill health. Looks like the event is shaping up to be one of the strongest Allegros in Australia this year!

Many thanks to the players and spectators who cam along to MCC today for the Olympiad Fundraiser!

Due to their generosity, we able to raise $580 to go towards to the travel expenses of the Olympiad team members.

MCC was abuzz with the largest and strongest Allegro field this year. Well done to IMs Bobby Cheng and Kanan Izzat and FMs Michael Baron and Eugene Schon for all coming =1st in the tournament with 6 points each!

The results of the tournament can be found HERE.

Kudos to MCC for running such a fantastic event!
P.S Tornelo shows it as ''still in progress'' - may be in the midst of all the excitement - forgot to submit it for ratings .
