Ipswich city chess club opening night is wednesday august 1 at 7pm

Ed Cubila is opening a new Chess Club, Ipswich City Chess Club, at 7pm on Wednesday night August 1.
All chess players are invited to come along to this brand new chess club!
It is meeting in Room 31, on Level 1, above Woolworths, of The Orion Shopping Centre in Springfield.
It is best to park on the roof - go up the ramp opposite the Caltex petrol station - as this leads onto Level 1.
If you enter through the shopping centre, there is a lift next to Merlo's Coffee Shop.
For more information, contact Ed Cubila on 0431065425 OR email Ed:

Unfortunately the Springfield CC has been affected - hopefully only briefly - by the coronavirus (this is part of an email from Ed Cubilla):

In consultation with Cassie, acting Manager at the YMCA Springfield Lakes and concern from the club members we decided to close the chess club until further notice. Government announcements indicate a period of ten to fourteen days would be necessary to assess the full impact of COVID-19 community-spread in Springfield and surrounding areas (and indeed the rest of the areas where contagion may occur).

It is a matter of public record that two or three people who were infected with the virus visited Springfield and other areas and today Friday 31 July there was at least one more case confirmed at Bellbird Park. We thought it is the responsible course of action to take given the circumstances.
